My friends and I were put in the "orange" group. Our instructor Heleena was pretty cool.. she learnt all our names straight away! Super powers, hey? Well I'll briefly re-cap the three days of camp for y'all.
Day 1
- High ropes course: It was frighteningly scary (tautology?). I swear, I nearly died when I was doing the course.. it was only 5 metres off the ground. But I have a dreadful fear of heights, so I reached my goal and somewhat conquered my fear (not completely). The flying fox at the end of the course was rad, though! Glad Heleena talked me into doing it.
- Night activities.. we played sport. Well, kinda. I played newcomeball with a bunch of friends which was fun - some teachers even got involved! But then (as all games with no rules do) things got out of control, people kicked the ball instead of throwing it and the game died. Most of us went to sit down, so.. another camp instructor, Soli, told us there was gonna be a disco. I was excited. When we arrived at the dining hall for the so-called 'disco', I found it to be sooo boring. Dead boring. And I'm being completely serious here; not exaggerating the slightest bit. Okay, you get my point. They played songs from 3-4 years ago (i.e. Beyonce's "Irreplaceable".. I like it, but that was so 2006!) and I had a pounding headache, so I sat at a table and rested.
- When it was time for bed, the cabin next door just would not bloody shut the hell up! It was really irritating.

Day 2
- Archery! 'Twas a lot of fun. In the end, my team would've won if it hadn't been for "bad sportsmanship" from one of our team members -- she yelled out something to the other team, haha.
- Initiative activities were group activities, basically. It was pretty lame, but we had fun doing them. There was a time machine activity which required all 10 group members to go through a hole, put the time machine through and assemble it on the other side, which we completed in 16 seconds. It took several tries and grazed knees to make it happen though. Crate stacking - we stacked a maximum of 15 crates up from the ground! We could've done more, but it looked as if it was about to tumble down! The other acivities were: snake pit (using ropes to remove a tin of water from the centre of a circle without spilling it) and others that relied upon trust, critical thinking and obviously: teamwork. In the end, my team came 3rd overall and we got a tub of fruit as a prize, 'cause we're healthy people. :D
- We went bushwalking later in the rain. Not very pleasant at times, but I managed to get through it without complaining. Because of the stupid weather, we didn't get to cook our food on a campfire like the previous group had done the night before. So we settled at a barbeque area and had sausage sizzle and damper for dinner.
- At night, we went to a gun club place to play games which involved strength, stamina and teamwork. It was tiring ('cause I'm a lazy-ass), but I quite enjoyed it. There was one activity that required 'ESP' (guessing, basically) between one person and their partner. We had to turn away from our partner, choose one of three facial expressions (laughter, thinking and sadness) and then turn to our partner to demonstrate which expression we thought they were thinking of. My friend and I were paired and our first two guesses were incorrect. The third one we both guessed correctly and it was HILARIOUS. We both turned around at the same time, miming that we were stroking our beards - inside joke! Epic. Absolutely epic.
- We went back to our cabin and we stayed up until Midnight chatting about the girls in our grade and snacked on junk food. It was the best, seriously. After that, everyone besides me and another friend were dead tired after that chat.
So to pass the time, me and that other friend (Kate) decided to play a joke on one of our other mates (Alexandra) by flashing a torch light in her eyes while she was trying to sleep. It didn't work out too well 'cause I pissed myself laughing everytime I took a step closer to the bunk Alex was sleeping on. Yes, I'm a nocturnal being. In the end, Kate and I gave up. We ended up watching How I Met Your Mother until 1AM! Then we went to bed.

Day 3
- Last day of camp. The "orange" group had breakfast duties in the morning. My cabin group worked in the kitchen -- I'm going to say this: the dishwashers at camp are so rad. They're awesome.
- Then it came time for canoeing/kayaking! It was hard at first to steer the kayak, but I got used to it and man, it really made my arms ache. Only from my waist down got wet from the splashing of the water. Me, being the smart person that I am, didn't bring a spare pair of shoes, so I had to go through the rest of the day with my soaked sneakers.
- After canoeing, we dried ourselves up and met at the bunker for one last time before we headed back for school. Our high school was at camp with Lugarno Public School kids. Anyway, the instructors just thanked us for being good sports during our time at the camp and hoped we enjoyed ourselves. The primary school kids left the bunker first whilst we waited for our bus to arrive. A series of group photos were taken by one of our teachers which consisted of us striking some highly amusing poses. I'll post them when I can. Then the time came: our bus arrived. We put our luggage in the trunk, waved goodbye to the instructors and left for school.
Overall, camp was an enjoyable experience and gave me a sense of independence, I guess. Hope the Year 10s after us will enjoy the experience as much as I/we did.
